Physical Education & Health
The Donalda School Community values the benefits a comprehensive Physical Education program can bring to students. Over the years, the school has achieved and maintained an excellent sports tradition; teachers, coaches, parents and students work hard to ensure this tradition continues.
All students in grades 6-8 are invited and encouraged to take part at a competitive level in the school team sports programs. The gym is used mornings, afternoons and following school by both girls and boys trying to improve their respective skills. Physical education activities at Donalda School focus on individual skill development, as well as team dynamics and game situations. Volleyball, basketball, badminton, cross-country running, track and field, soccer, and softball are among the chosen physical activities offered.
In conjunction with the Physical Education program, Donalda School has pursued social, mental and emotional well-being for its students by soliciting the spirit of the Alberta Health curriculum. Every opportunity is taken to instruct, educate and illustrate the ideals of a physically healthy and emotionally edifying life-style. Skills necessary to cope with our current rapid-fire society are offered each student. Supplementing this collective effort, educators and professionals from outside the school are frequently invited to speak to students on a variety of enlightening and socially enriching topics.
Developing balanced and prepared individuals, capable of dealing with any eventuality life may offer, is the intent of the Donalda School Physical Education and Health programs.
