Students at Donalda School participate in a variety of extracurricular activities over the course of each school year.
Field Trip, Ski Trips, Year-End Trip, etc.
Throughout the year students attend a variety of school trips. Our school often attends cultural productions provided by the County of Stettler, Performing Arts for Schools Program. Each year, Donalda School takes it's students to the Valley Ski Club near Alliance, Alberta where each student is provided with a lesson from a certified ski instructor. This is a fun filled day for students and staff. The Year-End Field Trip is especially enjoyed by students, possibly because it marks the beginning of summer vacation. These trips vary from year to year, but our Jr. High classes often go on a 2 day camping trip that includes, hiking and canoeing.
Weekend Sporting Competitions
Attending evening and weekend sporting competitions such as cross-country running, volleyball, basketball, curling, and badminton tournaments and matches is another extracurricular activity offered to Donalda students. Superior coaching by teachers or parent volunteers, and enthusiastic participation by players, has resulted in Donalda School achieving a first rate reputation for sportsmanship and competition throughout Central Alberta. All students, regardless of skill or previous experience, are invited and encouraged to participate in Donalda School's sporting program.
Donalda School has an excellent Drama Program, and has built a reputation for their yearly productions. Each year, the school puts on 2 spring plays, and 1 school wide Christmas concert, all of which are looked forward to by school and community members. Students are able to participate through a variety of roles, some of which include: acting, stage crew, props, lights and sound. Visit our school calendar for play and concert dates.
We are fortunate to be able to offer piano lessons for students in grades 1-9, with the help of a local pianist Karen Norman. Piano students have been involved in the Stettler & District Music Festival, take part in our Christmas concert, and every year host their year end recital at the Sharron Luthern Church. Please contact the school office for more information.
