Classroom Support Services
A classroom support teacher is provided to offer assistance to teachers in the planning of student programs. Children require learning programs altered to meet individual needs, and Donalda Schoolís classroom support staff work with teachers, students and parents to ensure those needs are met.
Occasionally, the classroom support teacher finds it necessary to refer a child for assessment to a professional outside of the school. The decision to make this referral is made in consultation with parents, classroom teachers, and the Principal. Information obtained through such assessment is subsequently used in the development of a program to meet the studentís needs. Whenever a modification to a studentís program occurs, provision is made for periodic reassessment and revision.
Over the years, parent and/or guardian participation and assistance in the schooling of Donalda youth has been encouraged and had a positive effect on student progress. Becoming a parent helper allows for special projects to be accomplished, as well as meaning a great deal to both children and teachers.
